Following the European Parliament elections in June and the Commissioners’ hearings held in early November, today, the European Parliament in plenary session has voted to approve the new College of Commissioners. The vote passed with 370 votes in favor, 282 against and 36 abstentions. After its formal appointment by the European Council via a qualified majority, the new European Commission is expected to take up its duties on 1 December 2024.
