The Commission released the State of the Energy Union and a Report on Energy Subsidies. Bioenergy is confirmed as the main renewable source in the EU (around 60%). In addition, the delays in implementing RED’s rule on sustainability criteria for bioenergy were acknowledge as one of the main causes of the drop in the renewable shares in several member States. Concerning energy subsidies, biomass is the third renewable in terms of public subsidies (EUR 15 billion), following solar and wind. For more information, please contact Jérémie Geelen.
